SOAP2 enters collaboration agreement with preservation service, Portico

SOAP2 has signed an agreement with Portico in order to ensure the long-term preservation of its content. SOAP2 journals now have the added benefit of having their content long-term archiving ensured.

Portico is a community-supported preservation archive that safeguards access to e-journals, e-books, and digital collections. Our unique, trusted process ensures that the content we preserve will remain accessible and usable for researchers, scholars, and students in the future.

This spirit of global collaboration, transparency, and commitment has made Portico one of the leading digital preservation services in the world. A growing number of libraries participate in Portico as part of their digital preservation strategy, and we enjoy widespread support among the scholarly publishing community.

Since 2005, Portico has worked with publishers and libraries to preserve a rapidly increasing number of electronic journals. They conduct self-checks and third-party archive certifications to guarantee quality and security. Portico’s e-journal and e-book preservation services operate on a community model in which both publishers and libraries help to defray the ongoing costs of operating the archive.

SOAP2 is thrilled to be able to include this benefit to our journals, which is a necessary step for obtaining the DOAJ Seal.
